These virtual tours are educational tools that provide you with a closer look at two iconic Frank Lloyd Wright sites in the Chicago area- his own Home and Studio in Oak Park, Illinois and the Frederick C. Robie House in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.

 

Frederick C. Robie House Virtual Tour

The Frederick C. Robie House Virtual Tour was created in 2023 as part of a grant for the National Endowment for the Humanities. Use this video to learn about Frank Lloyd Wright and the Prairie Style and Robie House’s connection with nature and the Midwestern Prairie. Other themes highlighted in this video are Wright’s use of modern materials, technology, and the geometry of Robie House’s interior and exterior. This virtual tour has built-in discussion and sketching prompts with downloadable worksheets and answer keys for your students and classroom. Recommended for Grades 5-9.

 

Wright’s Home and Studio Virtual Tour

The Wright’s Home and Studio Virtual Tour was created in 2020 during COVID-19 for local Oak Park 4th and 5th graders but continues to be a valuable resource for students. Use this video to learn about Frank Lloyd Wright and his architectural styles, the history of Oak Park, and how Wright utilized the Home and Studio as a laboratory for growing and learning. A major theme of the video is geometry and the many ways Wright connected shapes to the natural world through his architecture and art glass. This virtual tour has built-in discussion questions throughout the video. Recommended for Grades 2-8.
